It is amazing to me that only in the last century a modern definition of time has developed. This definition attributes time as a dimension. ONLY recently has this been an accepted fact.
The mystery and wonder of this is that it validates and defines the nature of God. Not only that, but it is totally reconciled with the ancient Judeochristian version as they put it forth. The mystery of this, is that this defintion has been the cause of much consternation for the previous 2000 years, but which the modern definition perfectly reconcile….so let examine.
Modern definitions of time say time is a dimension. This is entirely novel dating from the 1880’s. This novel view explains so much about God and answers many age old questions.
Where did God come from?/who created God? This belays a modern understanding of time, but only in the last 120 years. Before the universe there was no time, hence no beginnings and no ends. WIthout time, everything exists in an eternal nonchanging moment. This explains much. Why does God have no beginning? because time is a created thing and there was no beginnings before that creation. Why can not the fallen angels change their minds? because they too are outside of time, they can’t change.
The ancients said as much…in describing God, they repeatedly said he was eternal and unchanging…
now his attributes, based solely on two descriptive facts: he is creator and modern definition of time. For an exta-dimensional being to create the universe, this means, not that he created the universe in the past, as that would our point of view, but he creates the universe moment by eternal moment, from beginning to end. His point of view, the universe is a whole from beginning to end at one moment.
So he sees and allows all events to occur. Moreover he creates every single moment. Like frames of a movie. Not only that, but he must be everywhere to do this, hence omnipresent. He must know everything going on as a colllary, hence omniscient, and he empowers every single moment, hence omnipotent.
It is then a coincidence in all the ancient mythologies that we have a single eternal, nonchanging, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient creator?
When these traits are demanded by a modern definition of a creator? Only ONE in all of history!
For those who say why the God of the Jewish over other gods? only one’s attributes is substantiated by a modern definition of time.
